The search for extra-terrestrial intelligence has been resumed, after the SETI Institute received the necessary $200,000 to restart the 42 satellites the Silicon Valley alien hunters were forced to shut down in April, according to the Bay Citizen.
SETI, which stands for Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence, has been scanning the heavens for signals from outer space for decades. The project was forced to shut down after federal funding was cut.
However, donors from around the world ponied up to restart the satellites, which will admittedly take some time to get back fully online again, according to scientists.
More funds will be required to keep the satellites scanning in the future, the Bay Citizen added. So ET, if you're out there, make that call fast.
