Albie's Beef Closes in Mission Valley

A landmark restaurant in Mission Valley has closed its doors after 53 years in business.

Albie’s Beef Inn, which is located in the parking lot of Travelodge on Hotel Circle, closed on Wednesday night.

Dozens turned out to the piano bar, lounge and restaurant to relish one last night at the San Diego staple.

Albie’s property was purchased by new owner, despite Albie’s owner trying to renegotiate a lease.

Owner Ted Samouris told NBC 7 that he has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the community that included a patron starting a petition to try and keep it open.

"This has really motivated me to go out and try to keep it alive," he said.

He said hopes to find a new location for his restaurant sometime in the near future.
