After the Flood

A driver in Mission Valley slammed into a fire hydrant Friday, creating a wet mess for the neighborhood and a nightmare auto repair.

The crash took place at about 3:30 p.m. on Camino Del Rio North and Qualcomm Way.

The driver's boots may be to blame, according to San Diego police. Investigators said the boot caused the man's foot to get stuck on the accelerator. Instead of turning into oncoming traffic, he overcorrected and went into the hydrant.

No one was injured in the wreck.
