After Lakeside Stabbing, Suspect Takes Off

Suspect reportedly hit a woman in her car after deputies chased him through Lakeside

An early morning stabbing in Lakeside Thursday triggered a pursuit and ended with the suspect crashing into another car.

The suspect reportedly stabbed a man who was renting a room in a Lakeside home in the 14000 block of El Monte Road at about 6:30 a.m., according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

The male renter was stabbed multiple times in the stomach. A woman who lived with the renter called the Sheriff's Department, but the suspect took off in the victim's car going westbound on El Monte Road to Lake Jennings.

A neighbor who witnessed the stabbing attempted to shoot the suspect's tires, but the suspect kept driving.

Deputies located the suspect and pursued him for about five minutes.

The suspect eventually crashed into a female driver with his car on Lake Jennings and the I-8 business route before coming to a stop. She was rushed to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Deputies had to tase the man in order to arrest him, deputies said. In the process, they saw a gun in the car, but it was unclear at the time who the gun belonged to.

He is under arrest and faces charges of felony evasion and potentially assault.

An investigation of the home, right, is ongoing. The homeowner said he felt "blessed nothing worse happened" between his renter, who was the stabbing victim, and the suspect.

Medics responded to the scene for the woman and the suspect. Both are in the hospital. The stabbing victim was also taken to the hospital.
