San Diego lifeguards noticed an abandoned boat along Ocean Beach around 6 a.m. Monday.
They called in the U.S. Coast Guard after they say they spotted evidence on the boat that suggests it may have been used for smuggling overnight.
Lifeguards did not provide details about what the boat may have been carrying.
