Soccer Games Canceled Due to Intense Heat

AYSO canceled various youth soccer games around San Diego County due to the scorching hot weather

Various youth soccer games across San Diego County were canceled Saturday due to the extreme heat, the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) announced.

AYSO Kearny Mesa sent an email to parents Friday night saying that games for the U5, U6 and U8 soccer divisions were canceled due to the excessive heat. They urged parents and kids to stay cool over the weekend.

The San Marcos AYSO Region 127 website posted a game cancellation alert as well, announcing that all home and away games for U10, U12 and U14 divisions were canceled.

The AYSO Tierrasanta Region 152 website posted the same announcement.

β€œWith record high temperatures continuing into the weekend AYSO Tierrasanta canceled nearly all of its Saturday youth soccer matches to keep kids from overheating,” the announcement said.

Meanwhile, El Cajon AYSO canceled all VIP, U5, U6, U7 and U8 youth soccer games for Saturday. All U10, U12, U14, U16 and U19 will go on as scheduled but with some weather-related modifications -- such as shorter game lengths -- as outlined here.
