A.J. Machado Leaves Star 94.1

"Unfortunately I will no longer be waking you up on Star 94.1," said A.J.

Star 94.1's radio disc jockey A.J. Machado recently announced that he will no longer be working at the Clear Channel owned radio station.

"Unfortunately I will no longer be waking you up on Star 94.1. Last Friday was my last day on the air and Hula has left the station as well," he posted on Facebook. "I am grateful to Clear Channel for the opportunities they have given me and I wish my many friends that remain with the company all the best. I am off to find a new radio home and I hope to be a part of your mornings again soon."

Machado is well-known for his cheery morning disposition and his annual toy fundraiser during the holiday season.

After a request for comment, he contacted NBC 7 San Diego saying he is unsure what the future holds for him and his producer Hula Ramos.

"Thanks to everyone who has shown their support online today," he said. "It's a hard day and the kind words have meant so much."

Ramos also posted on Facebook Monday morning announcing his departure.

"The fat lady has sung and my time on Star 94.1 is over," he wrote. "Thanks to all of you at Clear Channel who I have become friends with and I wish my many friends that remain with the company all the best. I will now be focusing my attention on the arrival of my baby girl and hopefully will find a new radio home soon."

NBC 7 San Diego has reached out to the Star 94.1 station manager for comment.
