Not ‘where it’s at,’ apparently: On Thursday, 91x announced that X-Fest -- the station’s annual summer concert that was set to take place on Aug. 11 -- has been canceled.
“91x and GoldenVoice have made the difficult decision to cancel X-Fest 2018 with Beck and Death Cab for Cutie on Saturday, Aug. 11th,” 91x wrote on its social media accounts. “After considerable thought and reflection, we feel we are unable to deliver the level of experience the fans expect from X-Fest. Tickets can be refunded at the point of purchase.”
In addition to Beck and Death Cab for Cutie, the one-day festival -- which was scheduled for the SDCCU Stadium Practice Field -- was to also feature Twin Shadow, Joywave, the Struts, Meg Myers, Moon Taxi, Teenage Wrist, Mansionair and the Regrettes.
While there have been no specific reasons given as to why this year’s X-Fest has been canceled, a Facebook user asked the station if the cancellation was due to “poor ticket sales?” 91x replied: “Many factors.”
SoundDiego has reached out to the station, which is currently celebrating 35 years in San Diego, for further comment but has yet to hear back at this time.
