91x and FM 949's Heavyweight Summer Shows

91x presents BeerX and FM 949 hosts Indie Jam 2017

Not resting on their laurels from Sunday night, San Diego's two heavyweight alt-rock stations both announced big new summer shows. On Saturday, Aug. 12, 91x will host BeerX at Waterfront Park while FM 949 will present Indie Jam 2017 on Saturday, Sept. 9, at Oceanside Pier Amphitheatre.

On Sunday, June 11, the two friendly radio competitors happened to put on major festivals on the same day, leaving San Diego music lovers with a tough choice: X-Fest at Qualcomm Stadium with Phoenix or SPF 949 at Oceanside Pier Amphitheatre with Franz Ferdinand? Thankfully, both festivals saw good turnouts and offered North County concertgoers an easier commute.

But the end-of-summer festivals won’t take place on the same day, giving everyone the opportunity to go to both.

91x’s BeerX will feature music from reggae rockers Iration, Latin funk influenced indie rockers Chicano Batman and two of San Diego’s best local indie rock bands, Trouble in the Wind and Splavender. Indie Jam has an equally impressive indie pop lineup featuring Portugal. The Man, Misterwives, Sir Sly and Dreamers.

Tickets for BeerX go on sale Friday, June 16, at 10 a.m. at with a special pre-sale beginning Wednesday, June 14, at 10 a.m. There’s a number of different price ranges and ticket options, but keep in mind that all tickets for those 21+ include beer tasting AND access to live music.

For FM 949’s Indie Jam, tickets are already on sale here. But you also have a chance to win a pair of free tickets by taking the latest FM 949 RATS survey.

Sure, it seems far off now, but we’re already almost halfway through June, so both end-of-summer festivals will be here before you know it!
