9/11: Special Badge Honors First Responders

You may notice something a little different this month on the uniforms of police officers and firefighters throughout San Diego County.

They're wearing a special badge to mark the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

The San Diego Police Historical Association came up with the idea to symbolize the unity between police officers, firefighters and paramedics.

Ten years ago, many local firefighters and officers went back to New York and the Pentagon to help in the rescue efforts.

The badge depicts the twin towers with the number 343 on one, the number of fighters who lost their lives and 60 on the other for the number of police officers who died.

The numbers are under the word "United" spelled out in red, white and blue.
