An 81-year-old pedestrian was run over by a car in Oceanside Friday morning, the Oceanside Police Department confirmed.
The incident happened just before 7 a.m. in the 800-block of Sunningdale Drive.
When police arrived at the scene, they found the victim lying in the roadway with life-threatening injuries. Despite medical treatment, the woman died at the scene.
Investigators say the woman was lying down in the roadway, for unknown reasons, when she was run over by a passing vehicle. The motorist stopped at the scene.
The victim’s name has not yet been released, and her death is under investigation.
