Woman Left in Coma After Hit and Run

Family members plead for the driver to come forward.

Family members of a 63-year old woman struck by a hit and run driver made an emotional plea to the person who caused the accident - come forward and explain what happened.

Judith Tellez  was on her way to the 99-Cent Store Tuesday to pick up a present when she was hit by an SUV while crossing Old Highway 80 in Lakeside.

The family is asking that the driver of a dark-colored Ford Expedition that struck the woman to come forward.

"Whoever did this just please turn yourself in, please," said Jacquelyn Tellez, the victim's stepdaughter.

According the California Highway Patrol, The officer said in addition to the driver,  several witnesses also left the accident scene before CHP officers arrived.

The victim's ex-husband, John Tellez said, "I know if it would of happened to their relative or someone, they would want that person to come in and say something. Right now, you know, we  miss her."

The family says Judith is at Sharp Memorial Hospital in a coma with a broken leg.  Authorities want to hear from anyone who might have information on this case.
