6 Figure Salaries Raising Eyebrows in O'side

Most of the high salaries are due to overtime pay

The City of Oceanside recently released its salary figures for city workers, and the numbers are causing some resentment, according to the North County Times.

Nearly 250 employees were paid more than $100,000 last year, the paper reported. By comparison, the median household income is about $49,000 according to the 2008 census.

Most of the highest paid workers are firefighters and police officers, whose salaries are driven up by overtime pay, according to the paper.
At least one councilmember is calling for a reevaluation of how public safety workers are paid.
