5,058 South Bay customers lost power at 6:42 a.m. in the South Bay Thursday, while a crew was working to fix an outage that had affected 95 addresses, a spokesperson for San Diego Gas & Electric said.
The areas affected by the larger outage included Chula Vista, Castle Park, Otay Mesa, San Ysidro and Nestor.
Power was restored to all but 154 addresses within an hour. The remaining 154 addresses were expected to have power restored by 3 p.m.
An SDG&E crew was fixing the smaller outage when they crossed a circuit and cause the larger outage.
