Laugh it up. Friday is Comedy Night at the fair, and Freddy Lockhard (seen on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Frank TV and Comedy Central’s “Live at Gotham”) is one of three performing acts. Matt Knost and emcee Assad Motavasseli round out the talent. The show starts at 9 p.m. in the Turf Club, and there is a two-drink minimum. Non-alcoholic drinks are available, DDs.

True to this year’s fair theme, “Race to the Fair,” antique cars will race from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the 95th annual Horseless Rodeo. Antique car enthusiasts, including the Horseless Carriage Club and Motel T Club, will be behind the wheel at the Chevrolet Del Mar Arena.

On Monday, July 4, professional wrestling will hit the Paddock Green mat at noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. According to the fair’s website, scheduled acts include Octagonxito and more Mini Legends, and a WPW Worldtag Tag Championship of Honkytonk Man and Clown vs. Mighty Volkoff and Golden Boy. And yes, that is Dennis Rodman getting slammed by a trash can, courtesy of "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig in a 2000 WCW wrestling match. Neither are expected to be at the fair.

And here is your grand finale. A fourth of July Fireworks show blasts off Monday at about 9 p.m. A half hour later, REO Speedwagon follows Navy Band Southwest onto the Heineken Grandstand Stage. The band, which has sold more than 40 million records worldwide, will play such hits as “Time for Me to Fly,” "Keep on Loving You," and "Can't Fight This Feeling" to close out the fair.
See you next year, fried Kool-Aid.
