Teenager Hurt in Grant Hill Shooting: SDPD

Shot were fired around 12 p.m. on 32nd Street near Island Avenue

A 17-year-old was hurt when shots were fired Thursday in San Diego’s Grant Hill area, the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) confirmed.

SDPD Sgt. Ray Battrick said gunfire erupted around 12 p.m. in the 400 block of 32nd Street near Island Avenue. Officers quickly arrived and blocked off traffic in the area so they could investigate.

According to investigators, a 16 or 17-year-old suspect fired at 17-year-old victim, striking him in the leg. The victim was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive.

No one else was injured.

The suspect has not yet been arrested, police said. He was last seen getting into the passenger seat of a four-door black Honda Accord or Ford Focus-style vehicle that fled southbound on 32nd Street and then westbound on K Street in the moments after the shooting.

Police said the suspect was described as approximately 5-foot-6 with a normal build. He had spikey black hair and wore a black hooded top and black pants.
