2nd Fire Scorched Brush Near Wild Animal Park

Firefighters gained control of a brush fire that was burning in heavy fuel near the Wild Animal Park on Sunday, firefighters said.

The blaze broke out on Bandy Canyon Road at Ysabel Creek Road in the San Pasqual Valley at about 1.25 p.m. and burned two acres firefighters said. No structures were threatened.

The fire was sparked by a single car accident, firefighters said. The driver of the car could not be found.

Another fire broke out Sunday and threatened homes in a canyon just north of the city limits of National City between Cervantes and Alta Vista avenues in Alta Vista. That fire burned two acres.
