Flames From Dumpster Fire Reach 10th Floor of Mission Valley Hotel

Thick flames and smoke from a dumpster fire outside the Mission Valley Town and Country Resort and Convention Center climbed ten floors as the fire grew, but crews were able to put stop the spread quickly.

The dumpster fire broke out at approximately 10:54 a.m. at 500 Hotel Circle North, near Interstate 8 and Fashion Valley mall.

When officials arrived on scene, they requested a second alarm response.

The flames climbed as high as the 10th floor of the building, but the fire did not spread inside the hotel. A quick response stopped the spread. The damage was contained to the exterior of the building and the exterior stairwell.

Part of the upper floors of the hotel were under construction. No occupants were involved in the fire.

No other information was immediately available.
