The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office (ME) has identified the driver killed in a crash in Chula Vista on Father's Day.
According to the ME, Devante Marquez Piverger, 21, of San Diego, was killed in the June 19 crash, which happened just after midnight at the intersection of Olympic Parkway and Windingwalk Street.
Police said Piverger was driving at approximately 65 mph when he ran through a red light and plowed into a traffic signal post at the southeast corner of the intersection.
Piverger had one female passenger inside his car. The passenger suffered serious injuries and survived but Piverger died in the crash, police said.
The deadly crash remains under investigation, the Chula Vista Police Department's Traffic Division said Friday.
No futher details were released.
