Archers will compete for gold and a spot on the U.S. National Archery Team

Competition started Friday for the SoCal Showdown for archery in Chula Vista.

Opening rounds began Friday and the gold medal finals are scheduled at the San Diego County Fair on Sunday.

Archers will compete for gold and a spot on the U.S. National Archery Team.

The event is free and open to the public.

Competition takes place at the Easton Archery Center of Excellence & the Olympic Training Center at 2800 Olympic Parkway.
