The San Diego Padres Home Opener is on April 9 and the East Village community plans to celebrate the start of baseball season with one epic block party.
The 5th Annual East Village Opening Day Block Party will run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on J Street between 6th and 10th avenues, just outside Petco Park.
The free, family-friendly street party will include live music from local bands and DJs, as well as an interactive game zone where attendees can test their batting skills. The area between 7th and 8th avenues will feature a country music-themed block.
In true San Diego fashion, a beer garden will be open between 8th and 9th avenues for the 21+ crowd boasting local craft brews from MonkeyPaw, Mission Brewery and Stone Brewing Co. Specialty baseball-themed cocktails will also be available from 619 Vodka, a local premium vodka brand.
In addition to East Village eateries, gourmet food trucks will line the area between 6th and 7th avenues offering snacks to revelers.
Needless to say, block party attendees will have plenty to do while they cheer on the Padres. Tickets to the Home Opener against the San Francisco Giants are sold separately on the Padres website.
