Two people were struck and one was killed by a truck in Spring Valley Monday night.
The driver of a construction truck was traveling westbound along Calle Verde and Avocado Blvd. at about 7:30 p.m. when he struck the two people, according to Heartland Fire Department.
The driver told authorities on the scene that his vision was obstructed by the sunlight, and he failed to see the couple crossing the road.
One of the patients was transported to the hospital with an unknown extent of injuries.
The other pedestrian died on the scene.
Officers said the driver was traveling at about 25 miles per hour. There was no indication that drugs or alcohol were a factor.
