There are two new confirmed swine flu cases in the county, and both are members of the military, according to the county health officials.
The two new cases involve a 22-year old man and an individual with no gender or age information, according to the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency.
This brings the total number of confirmed swine flu cases to 29.
At Tuesday’s media briefing, Wilma Wooten with San Diego County’s Health and Human Services Agency, announced that two of the newly lab-confirmed cases of swine flu involve U.S. Navy personnel – a 37-year old man and a 33-year old man. However, Wooten could not give any information other than age or gender regarding those cases.
The San Diego-based ship USS Dubuque won’t deploy June 1 as scheduled. The U.S. Navy canceled a deployment to the Pacific on a humanity mission after a sailor on board has tested positive for swine flu, according to Pentagon officials.
A week ago, several Marines were impacted by the swine flu. Two service members were confirmed as having swine flu at Camp Pendleton. Another Marine at Twentynine Palms was quarantined last Wednesday with his roommate.
