Police searching for suspect of attempted rape

A young woman in her 20s was attacked while walking home from a party in Ocean Beach early Saturday morning, police confirmed.

According to police, the suspect allegedly tried to sexually assault the woman in the back driveway of a residence on the 5000 block of Muir Avenue near Bacon Avenue at around 2:10 a.m.

During the attempted rape, the man became frightened and ran away.

The victim went to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

San Diego police officer Frank Cali said a suspect description was not yet available.

The sex crimes unit is investigating.
