A 15-month-old baby who was abducted by his father and taken to Mexico was surrendered at the Otay Mesa port of entry Sunday evening.
"It is a great relief not only from a law enforcement standpoint but as a parent, I think. You know, whenever there's a child that's abducted, especially 15 months old, I mean that's extremely scary and troublesome at the same time. So I'm extremely happy that the baby is found and is healthy and again thanks everyone for putting the word out," LAPD Cpt. Ruby Flores said Sunday night.
The baby, at the center of an Amber Alert out of Los Angeles County, was allegedly abducted by Carlos Ivan Reyna Lara, 35, in Boyle Heights, near downtown LA, on Nov. 15.
The boy will be placed in protective custody.
Authorities believe Lara is still in Mexico and has not been arrested.
