$1,000 Offered in Hit and Run Case

A reward was offered Wednesday for information leading to an arrest in a local hit and run case.

Ventura Madrigal, 90, was trying to cross the street in a crosswalk at the intersection of 6th and Highland Ave. in National City at about 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 2, when he was struck and killed.

The driver fled the scene.

Witnesses described the suspect vehicle as being similar to a green mid 90’s Ford Explorer.  The vehicle may have damage to the front end.  The suspect was described as a man in his late 20’s to early 30’s, with a mustache and a dark colored ball cap.

Anyone with any information on the person responsible for this hit and run is asked to call the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888) 580-TIPS.  Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward to anyone with information that leads to a felony arrest.
