Driver Killed After Running Red Light in Clairemont: SDPD

One man has died after running a red light at a Clairemont intersection and broadsiding a sedan late Monday, police said.

The 37-year-old man ran the red light at the intersection of Clairemont Drive and Balboa Avenue at about 11:15 p.m. and slammed into a sedan with a 24-year-old woman inside, the San Diego Police Department said.

The man was thrown from the truck, which rolled over several times. He was pronounced dead at the scene, SDPD said.

The woman had the right of way and was in the middle of the intersection when she was hit, police said. She was hurt in the crash but the extent of her injuries was not known.
