1 Charged After Fight Between Cousins Turns Deadly: SDSO

A man has been charged with murder after a fight between two cousins in unincorporated Spring Valley turned deadly.

San Diego County Sheriff's officials (SDSO) were first called to the neighborhood after receiving a report of a fight taking place in an apartment on the 3500 block of Kenora Drive.

The two cousins, identified as Kenyan Embry, 37, and Andre Blue, 28, had stopped fighting by the time deputies arrived, officials said.

However, the victim, Embry, was having trouble breathing; deputies said he was in obvious medical distress and he was transported to a local hospital. He died a short time later.

Blue suffered minor wounds during the fight and was taken to another local hospital for treatment.

Homicide detectives took over the investigation because the circumstances of the death are considered suspicious, deputies said.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office conducted an autopsy of Embry and ruled his death a homicide. The cause of death is pending.

Blue was arrested and charged with a single count of murder for the death of his cousin.

No other information was immediately available.
