Teen Rescued from Mangled Car After Slamming into Light Pole

The victim was taken to the hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries

A man had to be rescued early Sunday morning after he crashed into a light pole near Olympic Parkway and Heritage Road.

The victim was trapped in the car for more than an hour before firefighters were able to extricate him out.

"He was under a concrete light pole and we had live wires arcing at the same time," Chula Vista Fire Battalion Chief David Albright said. "So, very dynamic rescue."

He was taken to the hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.

Chula Vista police said speed was a likely factor in the crash.

No one else was in the car and no one else was injured.
