How Do You Know If You've Got the Flu?

Here's how you can tell if you have a cold or the flu

February is the height of flu season, and you may have noticed that those around you are sneezing, coughing and just feeling blah.  But how do you know if it's the flu or a simple cold?

Cold symptoms are milder and come on slowly in contrast to the flu, which comes on more suddenly according to Sharp Healthcare.  Also, the flu usually involves a fever of over 102 with chills, sweats, muscle aches and nausea.

Flu viruses also survive longer and are more easily transmitted when humidity levels are low. When absolute humidity is low, influenza virus survival is prolonged, and transmission rates go up, according to an Oregon State University study.

One of the best flu prevention tips is washing your hands often, which will stop the spread of germs.
