More than 22,000 pounds of ready-to-eat fresh salad products have been recalled after Salmonella tests at a Northern California farm came back positive.
A grower notified Taylor Farms Pacific of Tracy that a specific lot of grape tomatoes may be contaminated and that lead to a voluntary recall.
The tiny tomatoes ended up at Safeway, Lucky, Raley's, Savemart and Walmart.
The FDA explains that salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes deadly infections in the young, the old and the frail. Healthy people may experience fever, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
Stores have placed notices in the produce or prepackaged salad areas. The list of impacted items can also be found at this link or at the below list.
So far, no illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall.
