Go Blow It Out Your Nose

If you thought where you live doesn't affect your "sneeze factor," maybe you should blow it out your nose.

The Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America's list of Spring Allergy Capitals lists the Top 100 cities in the nation by rank.  My fine city of San Diego came in at No. 10, not exactly a Chamber of Commerce-worthy stat, but a ranking nonetheless.

If you live in Lexington, Ky., you might want to take stock in the tissue industry: Your city came in at No. 1.

The annual list is based on four factors: allergy prevalence, seasonal pollen, allergy medication use per patient and the number of board-certified allergy specialists per patient.

There are many allergy triggers, the most popular being pet dander, pollen and dust mites, but did you know that latex and even cockroaches are triggers? As if cockroaches aren't creepy enough, a protein in their droppings can be a troublesome allergen and can be difficult to eradicate.

If you're wondering who ranked No. 100, it's Spokane, Wash. Maybe it's all that rain.
