Biggest Losers

The folks who shed pounds on the hit show have nothing on the San Diego zoo's pack of pachyderms, according to a published report.

Zoo officials told the San Diego Union-Tribune that the seven massive mammals at the Wild Animal Park and the zoo have slimmed down, dropping more than 11,000 pounds collectively.  The reasons are the usual suspects: a better diet and exercise. Tipping the scales the most is a female Asian elephant named Devi, who now weighs 6,750 pounds, a loss of nearly 2,000 pounds.

“Elephants aren't necessarily always big, round animals,” zoo spokesman Jeff Andrews told the paper.
