Boulevard Blooms

Perfect time to view the wildflowers at Sacred Rocks Reserve

Now that the deserts are hitting afternoon temperatures in the 90s and even the 100s on a regular basis, you're probably telling yourself that "you missed it", that it's too late to see any wildflowers this spring.  Well, maybe it is if you drive all the way into the heat of the deserts but not if you pull up short and instead head for Boulevard, or, to be more exact, Sacred Rocks Reserve.

It's just an hour east of downtown San Diego off Interstate-8.  The Reserve is in the high country, up in the mountains at 3900', much cooler than down on the desert floor and yes, up there - out there, the flowers and cactus are still blooming.

You can make it a day trip or spend the night.  There are camp sites and an RV park - even a swimming pool and spa.  For more information, check out their website
