Do you have tastemaker friends who always give you a head's up on what to pay attention to? I'm very lucky to have people like that in my life, folks who can always tell me when something is worth a listen. It was just a handful of years ago that Annie Clark made her first appearance as St. Vincent at the Casbah, and here she is, with a worldwide tour and album with David Byrne under her belt, and then she busts out an incredible new self-titled record, just in case you still weren't paying attention. With an incredible performance at SxSW (which you could watch via the web), she appears on Wednesday in San Diego for a sold-out crowd. Fret not, though, because you know how I told you about those tastemaker friends? Well, they're torn about Wakey!Wakey at the Casbah and the Belle Game at Soda Bar. I have a strong hunch, you can't go wrong with either.
