210 Freeway Blocked After Big Rig Crash

Lanes are blocked for at least two hours due to the collision

Five lanes were blocked after a dump truck partially rolled over on the 210 Freeway near Irwindale when it collided with a big rig early Friday.

A sig alert was in effect due to the collision, which happened on the westbound side near Irwindale Avenue at 3:47 a.m. All lanes finally reopened at around 6:20 a.m.

Slippery conditions and speed were factors in the dump truck, which travelling on the 605 northbound connected to the 210 eastbound, losing control and allegedly crashing through the center divider and into the other vehicle, the California Highway Patrol said.

Several carriages of the overturned dump truck ended up jack knifed and overturned across lanes. It is unclear if there are any injuries, of if the weather played a part in the crash.

A sig alert was also in effect on the westbound 10 Freeway at Cherry  Avenue, where two lanes are blocked, with slowing starting at Sierra Avenue. It reopened at around 5:30 a.m.

There are also reports from the California Highway Patrol of flooding in the Commerce area on both sides of the 5 Freeway at Atlantic Boulevard.

The 405 Freeway was also partially closed after five vehicles collided on the southbound side north of the Mulholland Drive exit at around 3:40 a.m. It reopened just before 5 a.m.

Two people were hospitalized, however no other injuries were reported. It is unknown what led to the crash.
