1,000-Gallon Sewage Spill Closes Two Marinas in Huntington Beach for Swimming and Diving

Orange County health officials say two marinas in Huntington Harbour are closed for swimming and diving after a sewage spill.

Larry Honeybourne with the Orange County Healthcare Agency says a backed-up pipe in Westminster sent about a thousand gallons of raw sewage into a storm drain system that feeds into the harbor on Thursday.

The water at Sunset Aquatic Marina and Portofino Cove Marina was closed out of caution.

Honeybourne tells the Los Angeles Times the water will be tested Friday and Saturday, and the closure will be lifted once the bacteria levels return to acceptable levels.
