The safest garage in San Francisco could soon be yours.
All you need to do is let a cop camp out there for an evening.
In an effort to thwart bicycle thieves who are removing bikes from garages, rather than swiping them off the streets, the San Francisco Police Department's Anti-Bike Theft Unit is looking for citizens willing to host an officer in a garage for an evening, according to reports.

Business Insider confirms that interest in the unorthodox offer is high. Tweets responding to the police department tell woeful tales of past purloined bicycles and wish ill upon the thieves.
The idea is to somehow cut down on the 4,000-plus bicycles that are stolen a year, the news source reported, by deterring thieves from even trying.
Garages present a particularly enticing target because the bikes within are usually unlocked, police say.
