Man Accused of Stealing Phone From Teenagers Playing ‘Pokemon Go' in San Francisco

Two teenagers lost their game of “Pokemon Go” in San Francisco Sunday when a man allegedly swiped the phone they were using to play, police said.

The Los Angeles Times reported that the pair – a brother and sister – was playing on a smartphone around 8 p.m. when they saw a man looking at them from across the street on the 200 block of Burrow Street.

“They continued to play the game and suddenly noticed the same guy a few blocks later,” Sgt. Michael Andraychak told the newspaper.

The suspect, who is accused of grabbing the phone from the siblings’ hands, “ran to a waiting car and fled,” according to Andraychak.

The teenagers were not hurt, but police are investigating the theft. They have also urged other Pokemon aficionados, who are distracted and vulnerable as they wander around the city playing, to remain vigilant.

Similar crimes have been reported in Oregon and Missouri, the Los Angeles Times said.
