Details Emerge in Photo of Off-Duty LAPD Officer Brandishing Gun on Road

Details surrounding a photo shared on social media that appears to show an off-duty Los Angeles police officer pointing a gun while driving a vehicle were released Monday morning.

Both the LAPD and CHP were investigating the incident, which was dispatched Thursday around 5:25 p.m. as a brandishing a weapon call on the eastbound 60 Freeway near the 710 Freeway, according to the incident report.

Responding CHP officers found two vehicles matching the description in the call and detained two drivers for questioning. No information on possible arrests was given.

The photo appears to show a woman in a Blue Chevy Tahoe pointing a gun toward the driver’s window of the vehicle in what some are saying could be part of road rage incident, but authorities could not confirm that.

What happened prior to the photo being taken is unclear.

Officials with Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that the woman in the photo is an off-duty police officer. Her name was not being released as LAPD Internal Affairs Group is beginning an investigation to determine if any misconduct was committed.

The police department launched their own investigation to try to find out what was happening the photo.
