Murrieta Man With Sock Fetish Arrested Again

To date, 12 victims have reported being harrassed by a suspect, police said

A Southern California man who police say has a fixation for socks worn by girls was re-arrested in connection with an attempted kidnap after having previously been arrested in connection with harassing girls near schools.

Alexis Edmundo Garcia, 31, was booked into jail on Thursday in connection with charges of attempted kidnapping and possessing child pornography, Murrieta police said.

The case started when police said they began receiving complaints from at least 12 people about a man with a sock fetish who had been hanging around schools in the Inland Empire city of Murrieta for two months.

Garcia was first arrested April 11 in connection with charges including child annoyance and possession of child porn. He was freed on $5,000 bail.

After extensive investigation and interviews with additional witness and victims, the Riverside District Attorney found that there was enough probable cause to re-arrest him.

Garcia allegedly drove up to girls between the ages of 11 and 17 and asking them about their socks, police said. In some cases, he told them to "get in his car," police said.

Authorities believe there could be more victims and are encouraged to reach out to Murrieta police at 951-461-6356.
