Man Arrested After Gun Found Ahead of Biden Visit

A man was detained Wednesday for allegedly carrying a weapon near a North Hollywood business where Vice President Joe Biden is scheduled to speak about raising the national minimum wage.

Larry Ira Estrin, 62, was detained around midday near Bobrick Washroom Equipment, 6901 Tujunga Ave., according to Los Angeles police Sgt. Marlon Marrache. He said the man "breached a zone" set up by police for Biden's visit and was found to be in possession of a weapon.

Estrin was stopped at a security checkpoint when officers were alerted that there might be a firearm in his car.

He was arrested for possession of a loaded weapon, according to LAPD.

He is being held in lieu of $35,000 bail.
