β€˜Black Lives Matter' Protesters Rally in Front of Randy's Donuts in Inglewood

Hundreds of Black Lives Matter protesters gathered Sunday evening in Inglewood, blocking the intersection in front of the iconic Randy's Donuts and at one point nearly shutting down traffic on the 405 Freeway.

Protesters had amassed at Manchester Boulevard and Inglewood Avenue on the westbound lanes, blocking intersections as they made their way to Randy's Donuts.

Among the crowd was actor Kendrick Sampson best known for his appearances on The Vampire Diaries, and How to Get Away with Murder.

A worker inside Randy's Donut said the protesters appeared peaceful and customers were still able to access the shop.

The rally had begun at a nearby community center as a meeting, not a scheduled protest, when it spilled out onto the streets.

"We stand up as a people united, not by race -- as people," said Irvine resident Daniel Fisher. "This needs to change."

Several hundred gathered at Inglewood City Hall, sharing feelings of anger over recent fatal police shootings that claimed the lives of Philando Castile in Minnesota and Alton Sterling in Louisiana.

"I'm here because I'm black. I'm mad. I'm tired of slayings in streets. I'm tired of numbers," said Fontana resident Kirsten Goudeau.
