Residents Displaced After Hit-and-Run Driver Slams Into Home, Sparks Fire in Eastvale

Five residents were displaced Monday morning after a vehicle slammed into their two-story home and erupted in flames in Eastvale, officials said.

The crash was reported shortly after 2 a.m. in 13800 block of Dellbrook Street, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Officials said two occupants in the vehicle fled the scene and were still outstanding.

Homeowner Freddy Espinoza said he heard what sounded like an explosion and came running downstairs to find a car partially inside his kitchen and family room.

"I was in shock for a little bit," said Espinoza, who alerted the rest of his family members. "I went 'there's a car here and I think it's going to catch fire.' I told the people 'get up, get out of the house.' "

Officials said the car crashed through a cement wall in the back yard and into the home before catching fire.

Firefighters contained the fire shortly after arrival. All occupants of the residence were safely evacuated, officials said.

One resident was evaluated by paramedics for non-life threatening injuries.

No other injuries were reported.
