Reckless Chase Winds Along Freeways, Streets in West Los Angeles

A woman wanted for recklessly driving in the parking lot of the Federal Building in Los Angeles led authorities on a pursuit during rush hour Friday.

Officers with the Federal Protective Service under the Department of Homeland Security started chasing the white Kia after 4 p.m. in West Los Angeles, according to FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller.

The chase was later handed off to the California Highway Patrol, Eimiller said.

The driver transitioned from the southbound 405 Freeway to the westbound 105 Freeway near LAX before exiting to side streets, squeezing through traffic. At one point, she drove on the wrong side of the road and deliberately crossed over medians to evade authorities.

The chase ended at around 5:30 p.m. in Manhattan Beach when officers used a PIT maneuver to halt the Kia. The driver, later identified as Elizabeth Trevor of Chatsworth, surrendered and was taken into custody, according to the California Highway Patrol.
