Couples Renew Vows, Wed While Running LA Marathon

This year's LA Marathon seemed like any other — thousands of runners trekked the 26.2-mile race, from Dodger Stadium to Santa Monica, in 80-degree weather.

However, since it was Valentine's Day, something about Sunday's race was different.

More than 80 couples signed up to wed or renew their vows during the marathon.

Miriam Macias and Gerardo Rodriguez, 21, got married at 9:44 a.m. The two met through running.

"I was a varsity runner," Rodriguez said. "I pretended to be hurt so I could run with her."

For Jose and Maria Combronero of Encino, renewing their vows was just as special as the day they eloped 11 years ago.

"It felt like the first time," Jose Combronero said. "Brand-new."
