California Health Care Provider Warns Members of Data Breach

Nonprofit health care provider Kaiser Permanente is notifying about 600 members from Riverside that it has had a breach in patient data.

The Press-Enterprise reports members were notified on Wednesday that a list of information was "inadvertently sent to an unintended email address." The list did not include Social Security numbers, financial information or other member information. But it did contain names, medical record numbers and procedures.

The nonprofit did not elaborate on how the breach occurred.

This is the nonprofit's second breach in the past two years.

In March 2016, a mail delivery truck carrying the personal information of 2,400 members of the Inland Empire Health Plan was stolen from a parking lot in Santa Clarita.
