A six-year-old boy died after he was struck by a car while riding his skateboard Wednesday evening in Santa Ana.
The boy was riding his skateboard in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 800 block of South Fairview Street when a vehicle hit the him.
A witness said his wife rushed to the boy's aid and checked on his condition, but the boy was seriously bleeding.
Police said the driver stopped after the child was hit. The driver was cooperating with police and was not facing any charges at the time.
Police said they were reviewing surveillance video of the accident to gauge the driver's speed.
The cause of the accident was under investigation.
