Semitrailer Truck Crashes Onto Van Nuys Sidewalk, Knocks Down Power Lines

Minor injuries were reported in the crash on Van Nuys Boulevard

A semitrailer truck crashed onto a sidewalk and knocked down power lines Thursday morning at a Van Nuys intersection.

The crash in the 6500 block of Van Nuys Boulevard damaged a power lines and possibly a business, identified as Premier Auto Credit, and traffic light. Police reported minor injuries.

At least one other vehicle was involved in the collision near Hamlin Street. The big rig was headed north on Van Nuys Boulevard when it collided with a sport utility vehicle at the intersection, then slammed into a pole and ended up wedged between a tree and the auto credit building.

Utility crews are responding to the location.

Van Nuys Boulevard is closed near Hamlin Street during the investigation.
