Cinco de Mayo at the 2nd Annual Chihuahua Palooza Sunday is expected to be a barking good time with drinks and tons of games, including a top doggie model contest, howl-a-thon and, what organizers term, the "Running of the Chihuahuas."
For the second year in a row, Chihuahua lovers will unite at the Venus De Fido Dog Park in Palm Desert, organizers said. This year is extra special as the special day lands on Cinco de Mayo.
Between 3 and 5 p.m., the miniature bark machine will be the center of attention with a "Running of the Chihuahuas" and several contests ranging from most photogenic and the howl-a-thon, according to organizers.
Don't have a Chihuahua, but still want to attend? Well, the event organizers say the more the merrier. So, bring all the pooches down to the park located at 73600 Alessandro Dr.
Treat samples and party favors for the first 50 guests will be available, along with an afternoon of games, shopping and raffles.
Organizers noted that Chihuahua Palooza is an on- and off-leash event, and that some dogs attending may not be temperament tested or vaccinated.
